Paints We Accept

• Interior & Exterior: latex, acrylic, water-based, alkyd, enamel and oil-based paints
• Empty paint cans
• Varnishes & urethanes (single component)
• Stains
• Barn, fence & porch paints
• Concrete paints
• Deck & floor paints (including Elastomeric)
• Drywall paints
• Primers
• Undercoats
• Driveway (non-tar based) paints & sealers
• Block fillers
• Stain blocking paints
• Shellac
• Wood finishing oils & stains
• Rust paint
• Stucco paint
• Paints for metal
• Wood & masonry water repellants
• Marine paint (containing no pesticides)
• Non-catalyzed & non-nitrocellulose lacquers

Paint Aerosols We Accept

• Paint aerosols of all types, including automotive and industrial products

Paint Products Not Accepted

The following types of paint and paint related products are excluded from the program:

• Bulging paint cans
• Industrial paints
• Non-aerosol automotive paints
• Non-aerosol craft paints
• Traffic marking paint
• Two-part / component paints and catalyzed or nitrocellulose based paints
• Paint or wood preservatives containing pesticides (e.g. creosote)
• Tar-based products
• Deck cleaners
• Thinners, mineral spirits or solvents
• Caulking compounds, epoxies, glues or adhesives
• Roof patch, tars or grease
• Colorants or tints
• Fibreglass resins
• Brushes, rags & rollers
• Paint containers that are leaking or improperly sealed
• Paint that cannot be identifed or unlabelled containers
• Other household chemicals

Safety Requirements

• Containers must be tightly sealed.
• Use only original containers when possible.
• Do not return paint in glass containers.
• Do not mix different types of paint products together.

Container Limits

To ensure that depots are not overwhelmed, we ask that you observe the following voluntary limits of 10 containers (or 50 spray paint containers) per visit. Product Care currently accepts consumer paint in the following container sizes:

• Paint up to 5 gallons (23 litres)
• Aerosol paint spray cans (any size)
