We would like to inform you that there has been a clarification made to the paints and coatings definition for the Ontario Paints and Coatings program.
Following the program transition from Stewardship Ontario to Product Care Association (PCA) on June 30, 2015, PCA became aware of member challenges and inconsistencies with the classification of foundation, roof and driveway sealers and coatings. PCA did further analysis and worked with industry members to develop the solution below which will be effective April 1, 2016.
Clarifications to the Ontario Paints and Coatings Definition
- “Foundation” is now explicitly stated in the inclusion category: Wood, masonry, foundation, driveway & roof sealers/coatings or water repellents (including all tar based & bitumen based)
- To provide additional clarity to the foundation, driveway & roof sealers/coatings or water repellents (including all tar based & bitumen based) category, a Decision Tree has been developed and is available on our website in the Member Support section in Accepted Products & Fee Rates.
Effective Date of Definition Clarification
The definition clarification will be effective April 1, 2016.
