Accepted Products
The New Brunswick lamps (lights) program will accept light bulbs from all sectors: residential, institutional, commercial, and industrial, regardless of the brand. There will be no charge to return accepted designated lights at any of the program’s return collection facilities, although quantity limits may apply.
To be accepted in the program, the product must be an easily replaceable light source that produces light from electricity. Lights included in the program can be sold as replacement lights or integrated into a product (such as a fixture, a flashlight, string lights etc.). When sold integrated into a product, the light needs to be easily removable and intended to be replaced with a new light.
The program includes but is not limited to the following common categories of lights.
Accepted Products:
- Fluorescent tubes (straight, curved, U, circular, square, etc.)
- Compact fluorescent lights (CFLs)
- High-intensity discharge lights (HIDs)
- Incandescent lights
- Halogen lights
- Light emitting diodes (LEDS), both lights and tubes
Not Accepted Products:
- Ballasts
- Light fixtures (no ceiling, table, desk, or floor lamp fixtures)
- Lights integrated into products that are not intended for easy removal/replacement by end users
- Christmas lights and string lights with integrated bulbs that are not easily removable or replaceable by end-users
- Lights included in transport vehicles (ie. lights in new cars, boats, atvs) that are not intended for easy removal/ replacement by end-users
